UN-Habitat has, in collaboration with Spacescape, published the report ”Spatial Capital of Saudi Arabian Cities” on the state of 17 Saudi cities. The report is published in line with ’The City Prosperity Initiative” whose aim is to better understand cities and their conditions for sustainable development through data collecting and analysis. Spacescape has developed material for the report using spatial and statistical analysis of land use and connectivity data. An analysis model was produced in which the concept of Spatial Capital is introduced and its relation to socio-economic performance is studied. The concept of Spatial Capital refers to the affordances of cities based on their spatial configuration and is a concept previously introduced by Lars Marcus (Marcus 2010), here used for the first time by UN-Habitat.”
